What Happened
Production of the D8 GTO RS is in full flow, with the first 20 cars delivered. The very first D8 GTO RS Bare Naked Carbon Edition, in Monte Carlo Blue Carbon, has left the factory in Lelystad, Netherlands, headed to Germany. This edition uses visible carbon fiber components with a transparent paint process that shows the carbon weave, developed with BASF's R-M paint brand.
2.7 secondsseconds
The D8 GTO RS Bare Naked Carbon Edition achieves this with a 2.5L R5 TFSI engine and lightweight carbon construction.
- Entire exterior and much of the interior made from visible carbon fiber
- X-CORE patented production method for single-cycle carbon components
- Transparent UV coating with optional color pigment applied by hand
- Limited edition of only 15 cars, available from €182,000 excl. tax
Donkervoort's X-CORE technology, developed over the past decade, allows carbon components to be produced in a single cycle, joining inner and outer shells with a foam structure. This makes the bodywork 95% carbon fiber, reducing weight and increasing rigidity. The European Union supports this innovation, and other industries like aerospace have shown interest.
Why this matters
This special edition showcases Donkervoort's innovative X-CORE carbon fiber technology and transparent color paint, reducing weight while maintaining strength, highlighting the growing trend of advanced materials in high-performance sports cars.
