What Happened

Fiat took part in Milano Design Week 2026 with CIAO FUTURO!, a dedicated space presenting the brand's vision for the future of urban mobility as a socially relevant, culturally driven and design-led experience. The installation opened with an exclusive press event featuring Olivier Francois, Fiat CEO and Stellantis CMO; Francois Leboine, Fiat Head of Design; and Maestro Giorgetto Giugiaro.

Dante Giacosa once said that a car should be useful before it is sophisticated, a belief that feels even more relevant today. Usefulness is not measured only in numbers, but in time saved, space gained, effort reduced and added pleasure.

The installation showcases three finalist small-car design projects developed by students from IED Torino and ISIA Rome: IPPO, LUMO SU MISURA, and FIZZ. These projects represent a bridge between heritage and innovation, rooted in Fiat's values of compactness. The public can vote for their favorite during the event.

Student design projects
  • IPPO by Luca Di Tonto and Alessio Vasta: rethinks the car as a place that adapts to the rhythms of small towns, strengthening community.
  • LUMO SU MISURA by Elettra Cappugi and Daniel Saviuc: a modular vehicle that can evolve with its user, with a circular economy model.
  • FIZZ by Gabriele Menozzi: inspired by the aperitivo ritual, turns stopping into a moment of urban pause.

Also showcased are two iconic heritage vehicles: the 1957 Fiat 500 and the 1980s Fiat Panda designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, alongside a Fiat Topolino Corallo and the new Topolino Sport Edition dedicated to Gen Z. The installation is open to the public from April 21 to 26, 2026.

Why this matters

The event highlights Fiat's commitment to small, affordable, and sustainable city cars, and engages the public in shaping the future of urban mobility through design.
