What Happened
The W16 Mistral 'Fly Bug' is the fourth bespoke creation in a series inspired by nature, joining the Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse 'Hellbug', Chiron 'Hellbee', and Divo 'Lady Bug'. Conceived through close collaboration between the client and Bugatti's design team, the 'Fly Bug' draws its character from the dragonfly, symbolizing elegance and dynamism.
The vehicle is finished in an exclusive 'Dragonfly Blue' that shifts between blue and turquoise depending on light and angle. The body features a new elliptical pattern that densities toward the rear, evolved from the diamond motif of earlier models. The same color is applied to the wheels.
Inside, the 'Fly Bug' introduces perforated leather over Alcantara in matching blue, with the elliptical pattern on door panels and armrests—a first for Bugatti. For the first time, the Bugatti oval emblem is painted onto the car's bodywork, a challenge that required precise scaling and positioning. The gear lever features the famous dancing elephant sculpture, a tribute to Rembrandt Bugatti.
Why this matters
The 'Fly Bug' showcases Bugatti's ability to translate personal client visions into automotive art, blending exclusive design with the brand's heritage in bespoke craftsmanship.
